I decided to write this to share diet changes and detox baths that helped me. Maybe they can help you too.
When I had my second flare I knew without a doubt something was extremely wrong. I couldn’t breathe and it was in no way my asthma. I had a lung function of 60%, levido reticularis as I know it now. I had kidney pains that came and went, never ending migraines whenever I used my computer or in the sun or direct sunlight room. Plus many more symptoms that would have told a doctor something was seriously wrong and it was not asthma.
But many people have had experiences of being ignored by some in the medical community on the way to diagnosis. I was one of them.
I have been a severe asthmatic since I was a baby and spent more of my childhood in the hospital than out. I’m pretty sure I know what an asthma attack is and is not. But whatever, I learned a lot on my journey and while I was being ignored and harmed in some cases I had to take care of the things I could while waiting for answers.
I know a lot of my people can totally relate to that in their own way. When we get doctors that figure things out and get us on the road to treatment we need and taking us seriously it is a huge blessing.
I was not one of the lucky ones as I call them. Not that being ill is lucky in anyway. But I did not get a quick diagnosis. As I was trying to get answers and being ignored while wasting tons of money I did what all suffering people tend to do…
Yup I turned to google! The thing doctors hate the most. I will touch on that in a future post.
Anyway, I found so much about diet and detox. Not the wimpy type detox that you find in a health store that doesn’t really do much unless you are pretty healthy. I will talk about two things I changed in this post.
I found people who did well with alkaline diet. It worked for many different health ailments. And I also found Calcium bentonite clay. They would probably help a bit if I did them solo. But they did have a serious impact for my health when I did them together.
I ate pretty healthy usually, but when I learned about the alkaline diet I knew it was pretty strict. I was completely willing to try it if it meant I could help my body to help itself as it should be but clearly wasn’t. Especially since I felt I was dying and no one gave a damn or wanted to figure it out but me.
It did help me tremendously! It didn’t cure me. But it helped my body focus on what it needed to. The clay helped me remove toxins and clean myself from the inside out when I took it internally. And it helped me with my spine and joint pain when I bathed in it.
The alkaline diet just helped move things along by having a less toxic diet and I did find much benefit from it. I felt like my thoughts were clearer too. When my flare finally subsided I could definitely feel a difference.
After my second flare that lasted just under six months of hell on earth it did take me a long time to get back some of my physical strength. Though each flare I had I would never fully recover.
I would love to do these things I am sharing with you, but getting GRAS(generally regarded as safe) clay is beyond unrealistic. And the health shops are quite the overpriced joke with very little product. Which makes it pretty much impossible to do the bathing detox part that helped me so much. I have searched everywhere and the type of clay I needed are nowhere and other types are in such small amounts to be not even close to helpful.
Alkaline is also difficult because again everything is overpriced and selection is limited and organic is also extremely limited. Yes I am going to get out of here, some way somehow!
But that doesn’t mean this can’t help you. You might just have access to these products and fresh foods especially organic if possible.
* If you are pregnant do not do clay and hot soaks ever. The unborn baby can’t tolerate hot soaks. It is very dangerous. If you are family planning and not pregnant yet this might be a good detox to clean and clear the way so when you do conceive, your baby can have a healthier mommy to develop in.
Types of clay and what to look for when adding to your regimen
If you are not aware of clay for anything other than cosmetic masks, it has a cage like shape and it attracts toxins like a magnetic effect. It is great for heavy metal detox, virus and bacterial waste removal, along with removing toxic garbage that’s in our food we eat now days. I’ll share links at the bottom for a site that has extensive research and forums of users and discussions how it improved their lives or how they used it, and for what ailments.
When you purchase clay only buy clay you can use internally. No cosmetic grade or anything other than GRAS safe for internal use.
There are many different types of clays. The smectite clays are best for internal. I used calcium bentonite clay for my bathing and internal use. Where I am located they generally sell sodium bentonite which I personally refrain from for internal use. It is does extremely well at absorbing, however it did not sit well with me and when I did use it my body did not tolerate it as well.
Also note if not removed properly after bathing it WILL ruin your pluming in your home. Oil rigs use sodium bentonite to absorb oil spills in its unclean or non purified form. The way it absorbs and swells to stop leaks is what it will do to your plumbing in your home! It will seal your plumbing shut in large amounts.
Calcium Bentonite is known for its excellent absorption as well and is better for internal use. It’s what I used for bathing and internal use. Also zeolite clays are excellent for heavy metal detox as is calcium bentonite.
There are green clays, red clays and well as the swelling clays. You can research all that in links below. Some are better for cosmetics. Clays that are natural without other preservatives added that we generally buy are much better for you.
How to bathe in clay for detoxing
When you use these methods the magnetic effect of the clay absorbs toxins through your pores that are opened via the warm water.
If you have organ problems or are fragile due to age do not use this method. Instead you can use foot soaking. Use as warm of water as you can tolerate in a foot soaking basin. Do not use any metal type water basin. Add one cup of calcium bentonite clay. Soak your feet one or two times a week for about 20-45 minutes for about a month. You can do this once every couple of weeks for maintenance.
I bathed in it two times a week for the first week. The first bath I was only in for 15 minutes. Then I progressed to three times a week for a month for 40minutes.I added two cups of bentonite clay into a tub full of water as warm as I could handle. And I kept my body from just above my breasts out of water. I learned to do that from others experiences and knowledge of clay baths.
I noticed a difference in my pain levels after the first few soaks. It helped me incredibly with my joint pain and my sacroiliac joint, which are not so nice to me dishing out much pain and stiffness usually. I actually felt so much relief in that aspect! Not to mention hot baths are so relaxing.
When you first start bathing in clay most people with experience will warn you to get out if your body feels extremely tired or dizzy. It can happen and it would be because you are releasing many toxins rapidly. It would be similar to herxiemer effect and you do not want to over expert your body or organs. Gradually lengthen your times in the clay bath as your body allows each time.
If I was in an area this was easily available in large amounts, I would be doing this every two weeks just for maintenance purposes. It really made that much of a difference for me.
Clay clean up is important. I didn’t want to chance any of my plumbing being harmed. I drained it slowly so the clay was left behind in the tub. You can use strainers for this purpose and line with cheese cloth. Never remove it with bare hands.
Always use the rubber gloves you use for cleaning and put in trash or compost bags. You don’t want to reabsorb the toxins that were removed from the clay via your hands in the cleanup process.
How to use clay internally
You can buy clay already made in liquid form in health stores. They call it a candida cleanse. Personally I think it takes more than a bottle of watered down clay to be effective for candida removal personally. And it’s easily a cost of $15. All it is is a teaspoon of clay added to distilled water.
If you are doing a heavy duty cleanse with clay, buy your own calcium bentonite clay or whichever clay you decide to use. You won’t be paying all that money for one teaspoon worth and can spend the same amount on a pound or more. If bathing you can purchase larger amount in bulk. Again make sure it is rated as GRAS.
Add a teaspoon of clay to one glass of distilled water each night and drink the water in the morning. Their will be clay in the water but the majority will be settled on the bottom. This is more gentle way of doing and great for maintenance.
Make clay magma. in a small ceramic or glass dish with a lid, adding 1/2 cup of water and 1/4 a cup of clay. Mix together and the clay will swell once water is absorbed. You can make larger amounts so you don’t have to mix more all the time. This is just an example how to make it into a pudding like consistency. Don’t let sit uncovered or it will collect dust and dry out.
How to use: when first starting take a 1/4 tsp once a day. Drink plenty of water. If not you might become constipated as it absorbs water. After about a week start to take 1 tsp per day as you body gets used to it so it can absorb more toxins. Drink lots of water throughout the day.
After this you will notice a bit of change and you will not be constipated going slowly and with lots of water which will also help keep things moving. Once your body is accustomed and you are not having issue with constipation up the dose to 1 tsp twice daily. Again lots of water.
I never had a problem with constipation but those who have helped that by taking the clay along with cilium husk.
It’s important to not take this within two hours of food or medications. It will absorb medications (technically they are toxic and have toxic ingredients, even though they are a necessity for some of us.) It will also absorb the nutrients from foods along with their toxins. which is why you take two hours before or after meals.
Avoiding ingestion within two hours will allow digestion of your food and medications without hindering them or their nutrients from getting into your blood stream after digestion.
You will feel a difference with time
You will start to notice a difference in your health. I did. Most people who do this and stick to it do and continue to use this method on a maintenance basis permanently because it is so beneficial.
It does not necessarily heal you. But it does remove toxins that over tax your body allowing your body to focus on what it was intended to do before humans started being walking toxins via our diets, and chemicals in everything we sit on, breath and use in this generation.
When I used internal clay along with an alkaline diet I did feel much of a difference. It was not immediate and took some time. But my body and mind did benefit
To learn more about clay for cleansing visit this site. I learned so much from the author of this site and from many users on the forum by reading their experiences. http://www.eytonsearth.org
For more info on alkaline diets and charts visit these sites. I can’t find the original huge chart I used for reference for alkaline foods. These two should help lead you on the beginning of your journey. https://www.phmiracleliving.com/t-food-chart.aspx and https://www.acidalkalinediet.com/alkaline-foods/#.XI6t663MyHo
I do not know the authors of these sites. But I thought they would help you with diets and recipes and the site for clay information was extremely beneficial in my life so how can I not share with others?
Here is where I am going to put my warning. Everybody’s body and health situation is different! Research much, check contraindications for your health and medications, organs, etc. A person with organ problems will be able to do clay but but in a much different way than a person with no organ involvement. People on certain medications also need to be aware of what natural treatments they are doing. Just because an herb is safe to some doesn’t mean it doesn’t react adversely to a medication you are on. So always do your complete research before starting. If your doctor is not for natural medications you can ask your pharmacist and they will probably know if there are any possible problems that might be there. I always pay attention to my body and reactions and decide whether it is a herxiemer reaction or a bad side effect if my body can’t tolerate something.
